Roger D. Harley
Founder
Roger Harley is a Melbourne-based investment banker with over 30 years of experience in Australian and international capital markets.
Roger commenced his career in investment banking in 1987 with Deutsche Bank in New York. His roles included Director of Corporate Finance and Director of Equity Capital Markets. He has also served as a Director of a broad range of listed companies, private companies, and Commonwealth Government enterprises, including Medibank Private, Clean TeQ Holdings and National Financial Solutions.
He has had extensive involvement in the oversight and policy development of venture capital programs for the Australian Government. This includes roles as a Board Member of Innovation Australia as well as the Industry Research and Development Board.
In 1998, Roger founded Fawkner Capital, an adviser to major international enterprises, private companies, and new ventures. Notable assignments include: adviser to University of Melbourne on the establishment of Tin Alley Ventures; adviser to CSIRO on the spinoff of Chrysos Corporation (ASX code: C79); adviser to Geotech Holding on numerous engagements and adviser to Sigma Bravo on sale to KBR Inc. Fawkner Capital holds an Australian Financial Services Licenses and is currently focussed on assisting Australian universities in their development and execution of programs supporting the translation of their research to create global impact.
In addition to his role as Co-Founder of BDL Fawkner, Roger’s current roles include Senior Adviser to diversified asset investment manager Tanarra Capital, Senior Adviser to HydroTerra and Director of Bauer Kompressoren Australia, as well as Torque Software. Roger has contributed as a Board Member to numerous philanthropic organisations, including the John and Myriam Wylie Foundation, the People and Parks Foundation and the Alfred Deakin Lecture Trust.
Roger has a BSc from the University of Melbourne and is an Enterprise Fellow of the Faculty of Business and Economics. He is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
